The Return to Blogging

Hey anyone who might be reading this. If you are reading this thanks. I started this blog several years ago to help me get better at writing and analyzing books, but I think the best thing for this blog would be to bring up current (and maybe some older) stories that I will have read, and discuss the effects it might have on a person; from both an emotional and mental stand point. What I mean by that is how the story takes you along with the characters, and how the events that happen to them make you feel. And how the fantasy of the books (or in some cases sci-fi) expands on what we think about and how we see the world. In other words, our mental view of the world. I've always been interested in how we as people love to explore worlds of fiction through books. We try to escape from the monotony, or occasionally the negative feelings, we have. I have especially felt this during bouts of loneliness when the only thing I can seem to connect to was the book I happened to be reading. Occasionally a good television show will do the same thing, but in all honesty I think it doesn't help resolve what I'm feeling as well. Books seem to draw me in to the point of losing my sense of self at times, which is exactly what I'm looking for most of the time. The other times however it is the strangeness of the world that keeps me intrigued. How many of us have read and wished to experience the wonder of magical creatures or far off places. Perhaps a secret romance, or an adventure of epic proportions. with no way to find those magical moments in real life we turn to fiction, and we are taken through the life of another. This exciting, almost relieving feeling is probably the largest draw to fantastical books, and the selling point of one of the largest industries the world over. But why does it happen? Why can't we just be satisfied with what we are experiencing? These are somewhat fruitless questions I find myself asking fairly often. And if you seem to have the same questions, or can't help looking for a new story every turn you make, then follow along, and let us find some interesting answers.

Introduction

As an introduction to this blog I would like to make a brief statement as to what I'm going to be blogging on.
This blog is for those of you who want to tell the rest of us what interesting books or short stories you have been reading. It will also allow you to broaden your gaze and find new books and other things to read.
To set some rules I would appreciate it if you avoid using profane language and not give or ask for any personal information regarding where you live or who you are, you are otherwise encouraged to ask questions about books or opinions.

To start this thing going I am going to mention that I am reading Fablehaven Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary by Brandon Mull. I am greatly enjoying the book and encourage any young reader (like my self) to read and enjoy it also, I got my copy off of amazon.com you can probably find one at a local library.
